Changing approved plans or conditions may require a change application. Planco reviews the existing decision and proposed changes to identify the appropriate Queensland pathway, including minor change, other change or a separate extension request where relevant.
Read the approval first
A revised layout, new operating arrangement or altered condition can affect more than the latest drawing. We begin with the decision notice, approved plans, conditions and subsequent changes. We also check the approval history and currency before recommending a next step.
Minor change or other change?
These are statutory pathways under Queensland’s Planning Act 2016. A change that feels small to an owner does not automatically meet the legal test for a minor change. The nature of the development, its impacts and referral implications all need consideration. An other change follows a broader assessment process and may require public notification.
Make the changes easy to assess
We prepare a clear schedule of proposed changes and their planning implications. Revised plans should identify what has changed, and the supporting report should explain the reasons and effects. Where another entity needs to be involved, we help identify that requirement and coordinate the planning response.
Watch the approval’s currency
An extension request is a separate issue from amending a design. If more time is needed, investigate the available extension pathway before an approval lapses. We do not assume that a change application revives an expired approval or removes existing obligations.
The original decision, approved plans, later changes and any current correspondence help us give useful advice from the first review.
